2012 mac os had low latency onboard sound? How is yosemite?

I have been reading that as of 2013 the internal core audio latency jumped way up while using onboard sound. Did that number ever come back down?



Do the 2012 mac mini quad core's also have low latency?



I'm interested in a super portable extra computer for messing around with virtual instruments without the need to carry around , provide power to , and pay for an extra interface.
