Monitors for people who move around a lot - possible or just one big ugly compromise?

Hi guys. So I move around a lot - not jollys every week but moving location and usually country about twice a year. Right now I'm no longer blessed with easy access to fantastic mixing spaces and equipment wherever I go so I finally have to setup a better home studio rig. I'd be lying if I said I'm not obsessing about size and weight - I'm small, flights let you keep small (and light) with you and frankly I've enough stuff to haul around without another suitcase.

Budget-wise I can't go much above 800EUR/£550/$1000 (guesstimates on exchange rate there) and I'll be buying in Europe. And I've no way to really audition without spending the whole budget on shipping bck and forth. I know there's no way to get perfection for that (especially in a tiny package) I'll be still relying on my beyer770s for some aspects that little mons can't show up for sure. I can't necessarily treat every space I live in so no point getting something incredible but not sure how low I can go without really compromising. [Mixing primarily folk-pop and jazz, some indie rock.]

So which ones! I was right about to hit go on the Focal CMS40s but keep reading they make everything sound good with no work - not ideal. They do sound like they travel well although combined weight in their lovely little carry bag is more than hand luggage allowance (I know, I know, but this is real life consideration)

I've considered the Genelec 8020s and I know their bigger brothers but I do hear there's a big jump down to the 8020. Any thoughts on that? I like them also as I do some adhoc installations and I'm sure they'd be great for that but mix decisions? Not so sure.

Adam A3x.. don't look like they'd travel well. But nice price and decent reviews.

I even considered getting the Avantones and using in constant conjunction with the 770s. Any thoughts on that? I'd love that from a portability (and, not gonna lie, aesthetic) POV but do good mix decisions from cubes + headphones seem like a crazy dream or a sexy hipster reality?

I've trawled the interwebs for thoughts but hoping maybe someone is in a similar situation to me - moves around, maybe a smidge lazy and highly distrusting of airline baggage handling.

Any contribution to discussion greatly appreciated!
