MMA apparel company offers $5k reward for KO'ing Ronda Rousey - FanSided

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey raised some eyebrows when she gave her candid comments on Invicta FC champ Cris Cyborg at the end of last week. Rousey ripped Cyborg for her past steroid use, but the real comments came when Rousey said, “[Cyborg's] not even a woman anymore. She’s an ‘it.'”

The comments upset a lot of people and caused a stir on message boards and social media, and one MMA apparel company decided to show their unhappiness with Rousey by placing a bounty on her head.

Americana MMA owner Peter Giannoulis took to Twitter to offer a $5,000 cash reward for the first fighter who is able to knock out Rousey.

Giannoulis has since been ranting about the double-standard from the UFC in terms of punishment for fighter conduct outside of the octagon with some profanity laced tirades.

Before criticizing Americana MMA, who has done a lot to help fighters as they are coming up in the sport, it is important to note that this is not the first time a sponsor has offered a cash reward as a bonus for finishing a fighter.

Americana just decided to go public.

There could be some backlash for the comments, but Giannoulis is just showing that he is unhappy with Rousey being able to express herself in such a way that is demeaning others. Quite frankly, he has a point.

If it would have been a man unleashing the verbal attack on Cyborg, then he likely would have been criticized by UFC boss Dana White himself before receiving a fine.

The first fighter that will have an opportunity to earn the $5,000 cash reward from Americana is Alexis Davis, who will challenge Rousey for the title at UFC 175 on Fourth of July Weekend.
