Lightweights Myles Jury (14-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and Abel Trujillo (12-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) have joined this summer’s UFC Fight Night 44 event.
UFC officials today announced the bout.
UFC Fight Night 44 takes place June 28 at San Antonio’s AT&T Center. Broadcast plans haven’t been announced, but the card is likely to be seen on a combination of FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Jury vs. Trujillo is likely to be part of the main card.
Jury, who’s ranked No. 15 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings, recently continued his unbeaten streak with a unanimous-decision victory over former title challenger Diego Sanchez at UFC 171. The 25-year-old, who appeared on two season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” has also defeated Mike Ricci, Ramsey Nijem, Michael Johnson and Chris Saunders during his promising UFC run.
He now meets the hard-hitting Trujillo, who looks for his third straight victory following knockout wins over Roger Bowling and Jamie Varner. The latter earned him “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night” bonuses worth a total of $125,000. The 30-year-old has eight stoppages (five knockouts and 13 submissions) in 12 career wins.
The latest UFC Fight Night 44 card includes:
Cub Swanson vs. Jeremy Stephens
Kelvin Gastelum vs. Nicholas Musoke
Myles Jury vs. Abel Trujillo
Carlos Diego Ferreira vs. Colton Smith
Andy Enz vs. Marcelo Guimaraes
Anthony Hamilton vs. Oleksiy Oliynyk
Johnny Bedford vs. Rani Yahya
Clint Hester vs. Antonio Braga Neto
Andrew Craig vs. Cezar Ferreira
