Patrick Cummins’ sophomore Octagon effort will come on June 7 during the UFC’s debut in Albuquerque, N.M.
UFC officials announced Friday that the former Penn State University wrestling standout will lock horns with Francimar Barroso at UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. Khabilov,” which is headlined by a titular lightweight showdown pitting former champion Benson Henderson against Dagestan native Rustam Khabilov.
Cummins made his UFC debut against Daniel Cormier this past February, suffering a 79-second knockout at the hands of his onetime U.S. national wrestling teammate at UFC 170. Prior to that setback, “Durkin” posted four straight wins to start his career, earning two victories by knockout and another two by submission.
Barroso, meanwhile, saw a four-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing, which ended in a split decision defeat to Hans Stringer last month at UFC Fight Night 39. The 34-year-old Brazilian made his promotional foray last August, taking a unanimous verdict from countryman Ednaldo Oliveira at UFC 163.
