It's time to put up or shut up for two struggling UFC Light Heavyweight veterans.
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua appears ready to return to the Octagon after suffering a devastating broken nose (see pic here) in his most recent rematch against Dan Henderson at UFC Fight Night 38 back in March 2014.
And he'll likely do it against Jimi Manuwa, according to FOXSports.com, at UFC Fight Night 56, which takes place at Ginasio Municipal Tancredo Neves in Uberlandia, Brazil, on Nov. 8, 2014.
Prior to the Henderson loss, "Shogun" scored a first round knockout win over James Te Huna at UFC Fight Night 33. It was a comeback of sorts for the former Light Heavyweight champion, who was reeling after back-to-back losses to Chael Sonnen and Alexander Gustafsson.
The former Pride FC superstar would need a win over Manuwa if he has any intention to remain remotely relevant in a very crowded, and competitive, 205-pound division.
"Poster Boy" recently squandered a huge opportunity to make a run at the division title thanks to the aforementioned Gustafsson, the No. 1-ranked contender in waiting, who spoiled those plans rather effortlessly with a second round technical knockout in the main event of UFC Fight Night 37 about six months ago.
It marked the first time ever that Manuwa, 34, suffered defeat (14-1) in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career.
The only other match slated for UFC Fight Night 56 at this time is another Light Heavyweight showdown that pits Ovince St. Preux vs. Rafael Cavalcante. It's important to remember that the Rua-Manuwa match up is unofficial (albeit likely) at this time.
