Thiago Silva is once again a Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight, despite this declaration.
The Brazilian was cut earlier this year after his highly-publicized arrest, stemming from an armed standoff with police in Florida (more on that here). Despite initial charges of attempted murder, which were eventually knocked down to aggravated assault, the Broward County Attorney's Office was forced to drop all charges thanks to an uncooperative witness.
From the Blackzilian's Instagram account:
We are proud to announce that Thiago Silva is officially back with the #UFC - We are truly thankful to the UFC and hope to see him fighting again by January.
His wife -- the chief witness -- also withdrew her restraining order back in May.
Silva (16-3) hasn't competed since a unanimous decision win over Matt Hamill last October. He was originally rumored to be fighting for Howard Davis Jr. under the "Fight Time" banner; however, those plans never materialized and Silva remained a free agent.
No longer.
