Okay, so I have a REALLY good background track of mild tape hiss (I recorded it off an actual tape. Wonders never cease) ; )
What I would LIKE to do, however, is to take nice, clean, crystal clear audio tracks and apply EQ to them so they sound as though they've been recorded in the same fashion (whereupon I can overlay the hiss, if I so desire)
I'd like a nice 8-track or '70s/'80 cassette sound. I'm fairly sure EQ could do most of it, but if there's something that'd add an artefact I'm not thinking of currently, I'd like to hear about that, too.
Thanks!
P.S. I know I COULD record from the DAW to a tape recorder, then record it back again, but that's a slight PITA, AND I lose some (of the wrong kind of) quality due to the age/condition of the 1/8" out on the old tape player.
