Fender champ 600 issue

Hi geeks,

I have a champ 600 that does the job at home. I turned it on recently and there is an issue with the volume. The volume knob basically does nothing now, apart from give off a little static as it turns. The signal comes on at full volume.



Now due to the price of the amp I'm reluctant to take it to a tech. The amps, as I understand are a throw away item. Is this just likely to be the variable resistor that is the volume pot?
