Having other people mix your music?

Just wondering what other people's experience is with exporting ur tracks to have it mixed by someone else. I've been producing music for about seven years and this is my experience. First off, I work in ableton so I always have to export my tracks as opposed to just giving someone the pro tools session. Secondly I have some less than ideal habits such as heavy processing on the master. This means that when I export my tracks (without ozone on) the sum of my now exported tracks will sound considerably different (and much worse to me) without anything on the master.

So, whenever I've had others mix my music I'm almost never happy with the mixes I get back. It may be a technically better mix, but it always loses the feel and vibe due to what I was getting through my heavy handed compression/limiting.

The only time I've gotten good results is when I sit in on the mix with the person, and am there to guide the process to get it exactly how I want it.

Btw Its not that I've been going to incompetent mixers either.

I'm always trying to be aware of having "demoitis" so I try to keep an open mind when listening to other people's mixes. Still it's always been an unpleasant experience to say the least.

Just wondering what other people's take is on this topic (not looking for a critique of my heavy use of buss compression ;) )

Wondering if others have been down this route and how they chose to deal with it.
