PCIe type for UAD card

Wondering if UAD card will be OK on PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (PCIE5: x4 mode).



MB is ASRock H97M pro4. Much more stable and best build for me than prior ASUS MB. Video from Intel HD Graphics 4600 so no video card.





MB has:

2 PCI slots - one used for RME card.

PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (x16 mode) - empty.

PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (x4 mode) - empty.





Will the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot take the UAD cards? In general, do x1 mode cards function in x4mode slots?

The alternative would be to get a FW 800 card and use external UAD satellite.
