Recording studio within a flat

Hi!

My wife and me are planing to buy a flat for out family, since the houses are very expensive in Zurich, Switzerland – too expensive for our budget. My recording studio has to be within the building, where I live and as a near as possible. I want to be able to create (record & mix) acoustic music (ac. guitar, piano, vox) in the night, when my inspiration is the highest for some reason. But I'd like to stay as near as possible to my wife and the child.

Therefore I am thinking about two possibilities:

A) A maisonette Flat (2 floors-flat): Studio in the 2. floor (smaller room with a skewed ceiling.

B) A normal flat on the ground floor: Studio in the basement (normal ceiling)

Which one is generally more suitable in term of acoustic treatment and isolation?

I'd prefer the B, because I can just go up the stairs to the studio anytime, without leaving the flat. But the studio in a such attic room would probably have a skewed ceiling. Is this bad for the acoustic?

What would you do, if you were me?

Thanks guys, I've learned a lot here at GS!
