As discussed before on this Forum, there seems to be an increasing prevalence of broken hands in MMA. Broken metacarpals of the index finger to be more exact.
Mark Hunt's hand after UFC Fight Night 33:
Ryan Bader's hand after UFC Fight Night 33:
Travis Browne's hand after UFC on FOX: Werdum vs. Browne:
Josh Barnett's hand after Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier:
And the list goes on...
Do you guys think this is coincidence, or have hands always been broken, but we just here more about it now? And what is it with this particular bone in the hand. Shouldn't it be possible to position the hand a little different when punching - or would that just result in another broken metacarpal?
Please discuss.
