Aurora 16 - Big Ben - Clock

Hello!



Short question concerning ADC/DAC and clock.

I have a Lynx Aurora 16 for recording and mixing - I did not use it for 2 years, as I rebuilt my studio and I have to buy a Lynx LT-TB card first for it to work again.



I heard that some people use a clock like the Big Ben with the Aurora to reduce jitter and improve the overall sound quality.



The Aurora 16 will be my ONLY converter, though. Is the purpose of something like the Big Ben to synchronize multiple digital converters or does it also make sense to pair it with only one converter, in my case the Aurora 16??



Can someone please explain in simple words what a clock is for, what it does, and if or why the internal clock of the Aurora is worse than an external clock???



I don't quite get the whole clocking thing...
