Sometimes i feel the vocals are just sitting on top of the beat and arent really inside it, which makes sense because the beat is pre mixed. What are some things you do to a pre mixed beat when mixing? I understand a transient designer is a good place to start, anything else? How can you get the bass and the snare to pop?
What kind of stuff do you do to a pre mixed beat? (outside of vocals)
