I own few USB devices I use for making music:
* Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 - self powered
* Ableton Push - self powered
* external hard drive (all the huge sampled instruments libraries are here) - bus powered
* Leap Motion - bus powered
But I only have *two* USB 2.0 ports in my computer (MacBook Air).
I tried two different external powered USB hubs and both were unstable. They were not some cheapos as one of them cost me around $50.
At the same time I hear about people using cheap no-name bus-powered USB hubs and never having any problems.
Was I simply unlucky with two faulty HUBs? Are there any truly rock solid USB hubs on the market?
Right now I'm thinking about more industrial solution as I would like to mount it permanently, but I am afraid it will be another fail for music gear.
