(BURLINGTON, MA) - The board of Avid Technology LLC today announced that it has agreed a sale of 95% of its preferred shares to Amazon.com, Inc of Seattle, Washington.
George Oliver of Amazon.com says that they are "extremely excited to be taking on a market leader in video and audio post production, as well as music. As we are now in the content creation business as much as content delivery, this is a perfect fit for us and we think that our customers will love having access to the world's greatest content creation tools at their fingertips for nothing more than the cost of an Amazon Prime subscription. Even better, customers will be able to easily buy new studio gear, books, or even groceries straight from the integrated Amazon Marketplace browser within Pro Tools or Media Composer with just a few clicks. It's a win-win."
Louis Hernandez, CEO of Avid Technology will confirm more details about the share sale at a press event later today which will be live-streamed from his new office in Hawaii. Press conference and media liaison contact details can be found at the link below.
