Trying to figure out my best avenue with my future setup. My question is about hardware insert latency. I have Protools 11.3.1 HDX with a Mac Pro Intel 12 core with 40 gigs of ram and Apogee Symphonys. My question is what’s my best way to integrate my hardware into my mix system;
1. As inserts in protools
2. Patched in via an external summer i.e. Sigma or B32
What’s the deal with latency? Can they be used as inserts in protools effectively? Also like on my SSL I have the lead vocal split out to multiple channels on my SSL ala Brauer (multi compression) can I do that with a hybrid setup without weird phasyness? Can I split my vocal to an 1176 and an La2a?
Personally I would rather just use them as inserts and not have to buy more s**t. Also I have a pair of H3000’s and a PCM42 I want to run, what’s the best way with that? Can I use Aux inserts so they are viewed by PT just as a plugin FX?
