I am starting to like "bad" music
By "bad" I mean the stuff you are taught not to do in composition: dissonant sounds, out of beat rhythms, noise, more random song structures, more chaos. I find the complexity and unpredictability more satisfying- plus, It doesn't sound like anything I have heard before and is fresh to me
It wasn't always this way, but the more I play the less interesting I find "good" music: proper harmonization, tight beats, clear separation of instruments, "satisfying" song structure, everything well tuned
Part of me says this is due to becoming saturated with "good" music for so long that I can predict patterns too well and therefore crave unpredictable complexity. But another part of me says that I am probably just a member of a constant minority of people who have a taste for chaos (I liked Pink Floyd's Interstellar Overdrive as a kid after all)
So I want to know what your experience has been so I figure out what is the cause of this in me
BTW- I do not see either preference as "better" but just taste. Obviously 99.9% of the stuff on radio is according to "good" music principles and is well mixed and mastered also
My question to you:
As you have composed longer, do your compositions tend to stay along the well established principles of good music (as described above) or do you find yourself breaking those guidelines more and more?

Has your taste of music become less mainstream as you have composed longer?
