Buying my first set of mics

Hello all. This is my first post, but I've been reading for a little bit. I'm brand new to the world of recording but scouring this forum helps me feel somewhat informed. I've also listened to and watched numerous shootouts to help me figure out what I am going to buy. I am a freelance classical percussionist and drummer who has primarily done live gigs. I am ready to jump into the world of home recording. A few composers and contractors have expressed interest in having me record various things for them from my (future) home studio. I am looking to buy a set of microphones that will cover me for drum set (mostly rock and jazz), hand percussion, as well as orchestral percussion (ie. timpani, marimba, vibes, glock, xylo, etc.). I figure with a good set of drumset mics, I should probably be covered for the rest.

That being said, here is what I am thinking of buying and what I imagine I would use them for:

Sennheiser MD421 (pair)

-rack toms/bottom snare

Audix i5

-snare

Audio Technica AT4050 (pair)

-overheads/timpani/percussion

Rode NT5 (pair)

-hihat/overheads/percussion

Sennheiser E602

-kick

and the Shure drum pack with the Beta 52 and 3 SM57's

-kick/snare/toms/floor tom

I'm trying to mostly get mics that have a mostly neutral representation of the drums - I think I do a good job of making the instruments sound good. Does this sound like a good start? Are there any gaps here that I am missing? I figured getting one pair of LDC's and one pair of SDC's would give me options for overheads.

Also, a specific question: when people use SDC's for overheads, do they also use a SDC for the hi-hat? My inclination was to use the large diaphragm for overheads and the NT5 for the hi-hat. Thoughts?

Thanks for any input, opinions, or the like!
