I recently bought a new mic (MXL VO: A-1), but it turns out it needs Phantom Power in order to work, so I need to buy an audio interface. So far I've found two candidates:
Steinberg UR22 and Roland DUO Capture.
I have looked at other audio interfaces, like Focusrite Scarlett Solo, but decided against them.
I was originally going to go for the Steinberg UR22, but yesterday I read that it has very little headroom, and that it might be problematic if you have a sensitive capacitor mic. As I haven't used my new mic yet, I don't know if it's sensitive, but it _is_ a capacitor mic, so...
At any rate, what I need for my audio interface is low noise, good preamps, and the ability to get really loud without introducing a ton of noise.
Steinberg UR22 has the preamps (Not sure about the noise level, as there has been conflicting information), but the loudness requirement might be problematic if there isn't much headroom. (I'm a newbie, btw, so I might be wrong on this.)
I'm much more in the dark with the Roland DUO Capture, but it doesn't seem to be known for its preamps. Don't know anything about noise levels or headroom.
Also, I'm on Windows 7, which is why I'm excluding some audio interfaces, since they apparently have hideous Windows drivers.

Roland DUO Capture vs Steinberg UR22 for speech recording and podcasting?
