Seriously, between the green and black of the Aira line and the cheesy look of the new JD-XA and JD-Xi Roland seems to have no clue of what a tasteful piece of gear looks like. If you could visualize what bad disco or bad techno would look like this would be it.
Compare these to the look of DSI's Pro2, new Sequential, and other current offerings and it is no contest as to how beautiful the DSIs are compared to Roland.
Add to this, Korg and Arturia also blow Roland out of the water for beauty of design. And of course Moog continues to be a class act.
So what gives? Is Roland purposely pursuing the ugly route? Is this supposed to be so ugly and cheesy looking that it transcend into being ironically cool like some hipster's idea of a wet dream? Or do they truly just not understand how ugly their gear is?
I'll close by saying the latest stuff from Akai is ugly well, albeit in a different fashion.
