I was just reading about voiceover artists in the US and a popular mic/preamp combo which often seems to be associated with NYC studios being

what's the quote refering to? A Red 7 preamp? Or the actual $99 Focusrite Scarlett Preamp (which sounds unlikely to my ears)? Or something else?
