Hello everyone,
I'm a keyboard player and for live gigs with my band (pop, rock and top 40 band) I use a nord electro 3 as my primary keyboard (and a mininova for some songs). I tend to switch a bit between patches and this can make the job of the audio engineer quite hard, since some patches are louder than others. I did try to adjust the volume of the different patches by ear and then save them so the volume output is somewhat similar, but this method is far from flawless.
The goal is to have a steady volume when switching between piano, hammonds, hammonds + distorion (tend to be a lot louder than the same hammond patch without distorion) et cetera
I was wondering what some better methods are in matching the volume of the different patches. Would there for example be software to do this? Or software to measure decibels to objectively match the patch volumes? (Or would this not work because different frequencies make the sound less or more penetrating in a live setting?).
I guess this is an issue all keyboard players face, so there must be a lot of tips and tricks (specifically for the Nord electro 3, or keyboards in general) ;)
Thanks in advance!
