Where is the info?

Ok. This may be the dumbest question a newb can ask, but where is all the info on connecting audio converters to mixers, and computers? I've saved up money to upgrade my system, but all the options are so darn confusing. I'm also from Tennessee, so you can imagine that I'm not the brightest. Haha. I'll tell you what I currently have, and what I'm trying to get to, and maybe someone can help. A few years back, I decided to break into the recording game (now wondering if that was a mistake). I figured, heck, as cheap as this behringer stuff is; I can record a whole album for almost free. I'll have my fully pro album on the airwaves in no time! Well, I'm sure you all know how that went. Half my cheap gear crapped out, and since I didn't know the first thing about eq or comp, I had songs full of mid range mud. Flash forward a little. I upgraded to a zoom r24, and thought I was smoking then. The good that came of it, I found Cubase, and left Acid pro behind. Here's what I currently have... PC running windows 7 pro, i7 4790k, 16 gig ram, 250 gig solid state drive, zoom r24, cubase 6. I just recently upgraded the pc. I just purchased a 32 channel Tascam M3500 that's been moded so it's not so noisy. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish. Let's say I want to be able to track 32 simultaneous tracks. I don't know why, let's just say I want that option. I would also like to send those same 32 tracks back to mixer to mix (some mixing ITB, and some OTB).I would assume that I would need converters and some sort of special sound card, but when I look at the back of the mixer, and at the connections on some popular converters, something doesn't add up. There aren't any diagrams, or videos showing how to connect these things. Not that I've found anyway. Where's the info? I don't want to purchase something I can't use. Most converters I've seen have like 8 trs connections, 2 mic preamps, some word clock deal, maybe FireWire/usb, some connection that looks like old school computer connections, and maybe some spdif connections. Those converters advertise 32 connections, but I only see 8. I'm thoroughly confused!! So, with all that rambling, I guess I would like to know.. What do I need to accomplish the aforementioned mixing scenario?
