Avid subscription model - is apparently only for support

I just saw this on the DUC:



"Confirmed with my Sweetwater sales rep: Avid is NOT going to a subscription-based upgrade model. The included "subscription" (bad choice of words on Avid's part) is merely for the standard SUPPORT offering. There will be NO negative monetary impact on the user's ability to upgrade if the user elects to allow the support "subscription" to lapse.



i.e., The pricing structure for upgrades for the near term will not change and will not be subscription-based, contrary to rumors. And, according to my rep, the standard support through March 2016 is bundled into the upgrade I purchased on 10/26"




I went to PT 11 in August so I am curious as to what my status is in regard to the support allowance.
