Subject basically says it all. A family friend is buying microphones for someone overseas (cheaper here) and they are getting some REALLY nice equipment... He asked me to try them out to make sure they work and so far I've tried a Neumann TLM 103 and a 67. I really took a liking to the 67... But the price tag is way too high for me.
So are there any cheaper alternatives? Maybe the Mojave 201/301fet?
For reference, I have a se 2200a II C that I use mostly, and while it's nice, the thing that intrigued me most about the TLM 67 was the louder but smoother midrange and the lack of sibilance while maintaining clarity. It sat really well in a mix and required way less tweaking than my 2200a. But at the same time I can't justify the $2000+ difference ;)
