i know the pro's and guys who actually create synths, can think of a sound in their head and already know the algorithms to use when dialing in the operators and carriers, but how about us regular bedroom producers? i can just mess around with it and come up with growls and or just tweak it until i find something real cool, but i know there must be a clear cut way ,
so far a method i have been using which cypher by fxpansion has thought me is dialing in in-harmonic numbers creates bells and dissonant type sounds, while using harmonic pitches is more musical , so i have been using that for awhile, but unfortunately cypher uses analog fm, and has only one carrier, although i apply the same rules to other synths .
any tips ?
