Monitors connected to Audio Interface or Mixer

If you're working with both an analog mixer and audio interface, which device do you connect your monitors to? What are the pro's and con's of each?



I'm thinking to the audio interface is good because I won't need to power on my mixer (which has a fan in the power supply) to listen to music from the computer. However, I can use the monitor outs of the interface as regular line outs to mixdown 10 tracks vs 8 if the monitors connect to the mixer.



Does anyone have their monitors plugged into the patchbay instead of straight connection?
