Need help with MIDI + Microkorg XL and Ableton

OK here's the set up:



Arturia MIDI keyboard MIDI out to the MicroKorg XL via MIDI cable.

Arturia also connected to USB hub (that is connected to computer) for power.

Microkorg XL USB into the USB hub to computer. Audio out of MicroKorg XL to Scarlett audio interface to computer.

Ableton track set up with External Instrument set up: MicroKorg XL (Sound), Ch. 1, Audio 1&2. (Any difference set with MicroKorg XL (MIDI Out) by the way?)



So I can record midi to the track and hear the output sound all fine. However if I use the keyboard on another track as a straight MIDI controller I still get the audio from the synth sounding. Is there a way to switch between sending out MIDI to the synth and just sending out general MIDI notes to use on let's say a softsynth on another track?
