Hey there Gearslutz. My name is Jon, and I'm a professional composer, sound designer, and programmer (Jon Hillman Media, LLC). Before this, I spent 10 years as a product manager, most recently for a relatively new DAW, so some of you might know me from then.
I'm taking the crazy step of starting a new company, called H2 Designs. We have a new product coming soon that I think a lot of people will benefit from. Here’s the story:
For about the last 10 years, the industry mission seems to have been about making things more ''all-in-one", getting to higher I/O counts, and so on. Now we have a lot of devices that are relatively affordable, and do lots of things, but don't do any of them particularly well. It seems like everyone has more I/O than they really need (who knows, maybe a 25pc band really will track at your place someday), with more unnecessary bells and whistles, and that they've exchanged sound quality to get it (perhaps without realizing it).
So we took a look at the current state of technology, and decided to try to make the best sound quality possible available to everyone, in a format that matched most people's actual day-to-day requirements. As simple as that sounds, it took us more than a year of late nights and weekends to get to a point where we're ready to show other people.
We think this thing sounds amazing, and soon you'll be able to hear for yourself. More details coming soon. Please follow us and keep in touch! @H2_Designs, http://ift.tt/1tAgPCI
