a lot of complaints come from the sheer mass of this beast, but honestly, you gotta pay a price for this kind of bass, and aside from money, that's it. chin up!
the electronics in the 4 kinda muck up the guitar, namely the e.q. which beside being pointless other then having an effect quality to it, just injects hiss into your bass stream. shielding the bass only partially nullify's the hiss. i feel a recap or just bypassing all together is the only answer to pure magnum goodness.
The hardware is rock solid, it better be, it's as big as a cowboy belt buckle and twice as heavy. the pup's, super cool with a tone i haven't heard in any other bass. while the body may be different then the 1&2 of the series, under the hood were still talking ovation quality. next to my grave will be a headstone and this ovation in it's case 6 feet under.
mine of course came used, so i got the nicks, dings and chips as well as some monkey business in the cavity's. so take that into your consideration of this review.
aftermarket developers, if your listening, please make a mute again for this bass, the cavity is there, i think it just needs the components. I'd love to have one, even though i guess my hand mute is up to par for the time.
