Hello. I'm currently building a new studio after 10+ years and am looking to enhance/upgrade my current recording setup. I have a Mackie 16x8x2, MOTU 828mkII, Fostex B-16 analog reel-to-reel, and ADAT I use for 8 inputs via the single optical output.
I'd like to use Logic Pro X with the latest MacBook Pro and have everything connected with minimal (i.e. no) re-patching. I've been looking at the Mackie Onyx 1640i because it's so much smaller than my current mixer. Ideally I'd have all 22 XLR inputs (from my drum room, vocal room and studio area) and 8+ line inputs connected at all times, being able to send all inputs directly to Logic Pro X and/or the Fostex B-16 (using a sync track, of course).
Maybe I'm just not seeing how I can use what I already have because I really don't want to use my current mixer due to it's size. I may be willing to still use it if I don't have to spend any extra $$$ as I'm supporting a family.
