I am looking for suggestions on my best route to choose for a new preamp and interface. I would like to purchase the best overall combination even if the total price of one route is a somewhat higher than the other. Here is what I am considering at the moment:
1) UAD Apollo Quad (with current 4 plug-in rebate)
2) UAD 4-710D (with current UAD-2 Quad rebate) + ADAT interface.
I would like to use a Kemper Amp for recording/reamping via S/PDIF. The Kemper has RCA S/PDIF and the Apollo has optical S/PDIF. Is this a big probem?
Would I be better off with the 4-710D and an ADAT interface that has RCA S/PDIF? If so, what interface would you suggest?
Also, how would the preamps of the 4-710D compare to the Apollo preamps?
