Much joy with basic all analog recording...

Just wanted to share this with you: Had a very hard time personally the last few months. As one of the results I wasn't really able to make music I like. I do have quite a big studio with a Neotek console, lotsa outboard gear, computer etc... Now a few weeks ago I bought this old Teac/Tascam 80-8 1/2" 8-track reel to reel, coupled it with a Tascam M30 mixer, added a few cheap compressor and preamps (dbx, symetrix, altec, tascam, d&r) and some fx units (korg stage echo, stocktronics plate) and recorded these 12 songs within 12 days. I mixed 'em onto a Teac A2300 1/4" machine, so no digital equipment was used during recording & mixdown. This was so much fun and I really had to decide from the start what I wanted to record and how I wanted it to sound like. I was really surprised how good it sounds (at least to me).

Not that I am doin' much better now, but at least it's a start.
