My dilemma is wanting to upgrade from my 2012 i7 2.6 Mac Mini to a Mac Pro as I just need more power for the sessions I'm trying to run and mix. While scouring ebay, you can find a 12 core 3.06 2012 Mac Pro for roughly $3000-$3500, whereas a new Mac Pro 8 core 3.0 I can get with necessary drives etc for about $5000 after some business discounts I qualify for etc.
I largely track bands, but I am delving more and more into virtual instruments in productions. Sessions are hovering around 60-80 audio tracks and a handful of VIs. I'd of course like to keep latencies as low as possible and I'm looking to bump up from 44.1 to 48 or even 96k sample rates. I'm using a RME Fireface UFX as my interface as well, and Pro Tools and Logic as my main DAWs, Studio One for mastering.
