various sample rates and digital outboard via ADAT format

i've been wanting to try out the 96k for myself and see how i like it.

i'm having problem trying to find a way to be able to jump back and forth 44.1 and 96 rates, with my outboard connected.

i'm running bunch of digital-only stuff and plenty of converters using MADI'd RME 648 which has several RME ADI-4DD boxes converting ADAT from 648 to AES.

and the thing is that when i switch to 96 all the i/o goes wrong.

as far as i understand there's the signal splitting going on with ADAT when working at 96k.

is there a way to wire everything so it allows work at both rates? ADI4 units have two ADAT ports which allows still 4 channels of i/o at 96k. but on the 648 there are no "dual ports" but you just get half the amount of channels at 96. i'm only using 32 ch of i/o which is exactly half the ports of 648 so i could do the double wiring but i'm confused how to manage it when going back to 44k and single ports.

Q: how do people manage this kind of scenario?

thanks
