INTRO
Reality Bass by Iridiumiris is an extremely playable, useful, and inspiring virtual bass plugin system that features a punchy five-string instrument, FX, and a built-in beatmaker.
SOUND
The sound is excellent and sits nicely in the mix, anchoring the tracks of most genres perfectly. I’m working on an alternative version of Ball of Confusion and the bass sounds fantastic! All it took was a little EQing and FX to drives my trippy re-creation. I’m not sure what bass provided the inspiration and/or samples for Reality Bass, but whatever it was — it sounds sweet. Clearly, it was a high-end five-string model.
FX
The FX section offers nice control over the timbre and performance of the overall bass sound. It boasts a lot of the knobs you would hope to find: three-band EQ, Chorus, Attack, Release, a strum feature, and portamento — a rare feature for electric bass.
BEATMAKER
The beatmaker is one of the features that separate this from most of the bass sample libraries. It’s reminiscent of the MusicLab guitars and ToonTrack drums — nice integration of instrument and pattern maker. It comes with an assortment of MIDI patterns, and the user can modify or create his/her own and save to a special user bank. In addition, 3rd party MIDI files can be placed into the pattern folder and is accessible via the user bank. There is an optional, affordable extension pack filled with 120 rock patterns in 4/4 beat. *

SUMMARY
Reality bass is a sweet low-end (sonically) electric bass plugin that provides High-end ($) quality for the price of lunch at a local café. Food in the belly disappears fast, but the usefulness of Reality Bass will live on. I can validate the claims — Reality Bass is extremely playable and realistic. The developers are enthusiastic and promise many updates, “Our plugin is in constant development.” I look forward to future updates, and I picked this up during v1. I highly recommend this plugin to any eMusicians, producers, film and game scorers, DJs, sound designers, etc., who are looking for an easy to use, easy to sequence, easy on the wallet bass instrument that is a whole lotta fun. Reality Bass will help breath life into your tracks, regardless of genre. Tommy Zai gives Reality Bass two thumbs slaps up. Thank you, Iridiumiris, for creating an audio plugin that I look forward to launching!
