Metal music high passing

I was reading an SOS article on mixing metal and they stated that they would usually high pass across the board at 60hz~ for fast tempo tracks.

I can understand why a person would do this, but is it really that typical when mixing metal? Especially with bass fundamentals reaching down to 41hz or below. What is your own approach to high passing and the metal genre?
