retrospective recording is like gambling

I like to use retrospective recording for midi entry, it's just the fastest way to do things for me.

But in Cubase 7.5.3 I often get an error, which says something like No events in the buffer.

That happens especially after a playing a fast passage with lots of notes. If it once appears on a passage, I won't get it done in a second try and I'd have to press record before playing to capture the performance.

In that case it often works to retrospectively capture something short like two notes.

Maybe there is some limited cache size, which deletes the events in the buffer when the cache is full?

It's a bit like gambling, because you never know if your performance will be captured.

Any ideas how this can be fixed?
