i was reading a bit about the old dub producers like lee scratch perry and it seems they used too (for good reason) record onto only 4 tracks. seems like he had all his drums/percussion on one, bass on another, guitar/keys on another and vocals on the last. i know technology has moved on so we don't need to do this now but i think it seems a good idea as simplifies everything. in terms of riding the faders live when you mix down it would help i think. does anyone else work like this still?
4 tracks
