Balanced output Lavalier

I'm interested in buying a couple of low-cost Lavalier tie-clip microphones to plug into my zoom H5 portable recorder for interviews. The H5 has XLR balanced phantom-power line-level and mic-level inputs. The standard Audio Technica 803 mic package is about £150 each in the UK which is outside my budget. This consists of the mic with a mini XLR plug that plugs into a belt pack, and the belt pack has a standard 3-pin male XLR output. But you can also buy an AT 803 without the belt pack for £50 with just an unterminated lead. Suppose I soldered a 3-pin male XLR plug onto the unterminated lead. Could I then plug that directly into my H5 recorder and have it function as a balanced input?

The belt pack clearly provides power for the mic, but does it also do the hot/cold signal splitting that is necessary for a noise-cancelling balanced mic output? Or is that done at the mic head itself? If the latter then I can save myself nearly £200 for the pair! I've searched around but I can get any guidance on this.

Any help appreciated.
