Greetings !
My name Alex and this will be my first post on Gearslutz.
I'm let's say successful music producer for last 20 years, my project well know in a genre and bla bla life was good for a while till now.
All 2013 I build and upgrade studio, perfect place was rented
and amazing control room built, I spend some bloody money for new fat analog
gear, and prepared my self for a next step, so exciting ...
But shit hit the fun and client appeared. He offer me a good money and
asked to mix his upcoming album.
I was happy with deal and find this job interesting, also I kind like his
conception. We start work together and first trek was a nice experience, we
both like the result. Then he prepare second one and
dropboxed. I spend about 12 hours to work on material and compare to audio
reference dude provide, result was absolutely fantastic.
Unfortunately track contain allot of guitars  what is not my direct specialty,
so I decide to ask client to come down to studio and so we can discuss and A-B sounds together to achieve better "heavy metal" feel.
Here is all hell begin, he asked to change one crash and snare and then
lead and then kick and then bass and then and then and ... wow, was terrible night. First idea what come in my mind after a good nap, is way, for God sake,
I need this job, let's phone the guy, tell him the true and get back in to
business I born for, but then deep insight, I ask my self, come on, this is new
to me, many people in the world probably faced same situation and should be
the way to survive.
So I ask you, honorable professional hard working guys, how to
set up proper deal with "mix my track bro" people ? Is it anything like a
book or FAQ i can read, or should I suffer through all this disaster and keep
working ? Do you let them ever visit your studios and point finger to monitor ?
Thank you !
