Hi gang!
Im in the process of upgrading my bands P.A. system with a separate mixing console / power amp. I've tried researching what Im going to need and the amount of valuable and conflicting info is enormous.
I have two Samson RS15HD speakers (15inch 300watts RMS, 600 Peak 8ohm) which arent the worlds best but work quite well for us) and two powered wedges. I've been using a behringer PMP1680s which is a powered mixer and works quite well but the band now seems to be growing in popularity and as the gigs get bigger I find the functionality of the desk to be restricting. Basically I need more Aux sends so I can split the foldback. We have a saxist and a couple of vocalists that would perform better with foldback that is more tailored for them.
So!
I understand that to power a 300watt speaker the amp should be 450 watts ie the speaker rms + 50% so does this mean I need something that is 450 watts per side at 8ohm? Or alternatively does anyone have a better solution for being able to send to seperate foldback speakers? The Behringer desk only has one "Monitor out" option...
Finally I had hoped to one day move to passive foldback speakers but does this complicate the hell out of the desk/amp idea?
Cheers and thanks in advance for the help...
