I found this one today it is something different and something I am totally interested in "playing" with.
I am one of those computer music/gamer hybrids that spends a decent amount of time playing games as well as making music.. Make music then break by playing games, killing things then repeat.
This is a very interesting concept which is a great way to offer some intense visual's to the user, hopefully letting that composer just forget about what he is doing and getting him into a space of immersion where he can explore music ideas in a alternate method of interaction.
There have been a lot of full on games that have come before which allowed the players to "play" in musical methods, of note to me are some RPG's that have done so.. I know there are a lot of people out there that have played some of these in their youths, and those were really such inspirational moments for me and even helped to provide a spark within us to start getting into full on music composition and mixing.
There are now some online MMORPG's which even let players fully roleplay as musicians "characters" and give them some primitive tools to write and compose within the game as well as even play MIDI instruments via the online server so that others nearby them, can listen to those virtual instruments.. We are going to guaranteed see more of some of these types of experiences and other "virtual" composition experiences.
MIDI is often a bad word around computers especially for people with non-proaudio computers. For many users MIDI is plagued with nasty latency or setup problems, as well as a total crap shoot when hearing what soundset's are available.
Anyhow, I am waiting for the download to finish then I will try this one out.. Something I hope to "achieve" from this is to be able to walk away with a partially composed piece of music which I can then transfer to my main DAW to work on later...
