Ipad and IO Dock for triggering samples and backing tracks?

If this is in the wrong area, feel free to move it! I've seen a few threads relatively close to my question but none that were close enough that I actually got a definitive answer.

So I'm looking to get a rig to trigger samples and backing tracks live, and I've been taking a long hard look at an Ipad/IODock combo. Ideally, I want to use the MIDI input to trigger the samples, probably using something like an Alesis Performance Pad and have the drummer trigger the samples. The problem is that we want to use three main types off samples, and want them loaded all at once.

1) One shot sounds, mostly things like sub drops or FX sounds like glass breaking, ect.

2) Short loops, song intros, bridge sections, basically short sections that probably won't require click tracks because they will only be played for short sections of the song

3) Full blown backing tracks, string sections or keys, with click tracks to the drummer and playing through the whole song.

Sorry for such a long post! So, what do you guys think? Could I have all these samples loaded up at once on an Ipad, ran through an IODock, and triggered with a PP, octopad, or similar, and have it all work? If not, anyone have any better suggestions?
