Hey guys. I'm building a Drip Opto6 and I have a couple quick newb questions here. Stuff I just have never done before.
1. I'm now ready to mount the output transformer (Sowter 1290). My question is this: The transformer mounts through a hole, with the leads coming out from underneath the board. The transformer comes with 2 nuts and a friction washer (the kind with sort of serrated teeth to help it dig in). What order do these parts go in?
As it came to me, the washer was up against the transformer, then there was a nut, and then there was the second nut. I'm assuming the two nuts butt up against each other, squeezing against the pcb. Is that correct? No other reinforcement is used, correct? Should I throw a dab of Red Locktite on the threads do you think?
2. Should I trim the leads on the output transformer to shorten the signal path. Obviously making them too short would be an issue, but it does seem like there's an awful lot of bare wire there otherwise.
