How do you get this sound (without spending $30k)?

It's the lead sound that comes in at the 0:17 mark.



Besides spending $30,000 on a Buchla and recreating that exact patch, is there a more reasonable way to recreate the same effect?



Obviously a big part of that sound is modulation via the touch controller. Would it be possible to do something similar via a ribbon controller + other mod controller (i.e. mod wheel)?
